Pure beats instrumental albums are hard to pull off, at least for me, because at some point I keep waiting for a rapper to break in. but Squashy nice is the exception. A wild ride that feels like a 1970s soul version of MF DOOM’s instrumental works–less cartoon references, more righteous blacksploitation soundtracks.
