Ame-Comi Jade

by Josh Crawley

This is how much I care; I have a column ready to opt for you to read on our blog even when I’m on vacation!

Before I get into the goods this month, I discovered something interesting this month. page 260 of Previews has an ad for GG Studio. While I like the look of the art, their site – www.ggstudiodesign.com – doesn’t appear as easy to navigate as I’d like, which seems like an ill omen (as a very short-lived publisher) to me. I welcome being proven wrong, though.

Ame-Comi Heroine Series: Jade PVC Figure

I wish the goofy flared-open legs were the end of a skirt, and not leggings; oh well.

Ame-Comi star Sapphire

Ame-Comi Heroine Series: star Sapphire PVC figure
The translucent heart being blown like a kiss? Adorable.

Blackest Night: green lantern Corps

Blackest Night: green lantern Corps hard cover
Nine issues of smashing home entertainment by Pete Tomasi & Patrick Gleason? sign me up!

Captain America T-Shirt

Captain America: Badge of honor coffee T-shirt
While I’d really like to purchase this shirt, I get picky about the fit. If I have a mad Engine t-shirt around that I do like the fit of, though, I might try my luck.

Darkstalkers

Darkstalkers volume 2: The night Warriors
I’ve never played the games, but it didn’t stop me from reading the comics! While we currently seem to have Darkstalkers volume 1 noted as being currently backordered, I presume it will be available very soon, because it’s relisted in this Previews.

Frenemy of the State

Frenemy of the state #1
Rashida Jones isn’t what caught my eye, though she is welcome to. It was actually the cover by artist Jeff Wamester. cocktail dresses and guns with silencers do it every time!

Icon: Mothership Connection

Icon: Mothership connection trade paperback
I’ve discussed Milestone Media stuff before, so this ought to come as no surprise: here’s a useful link to the previous volume, Icon: A Hero’s welcome soft cover!

Iron Saint

Iron Saint volume 1 trade paperback
I’ve been looking forward to this book for a coon’s age! That’s 1.3 to 3.1 years, according to Wikipedia; sounds about best to me.

Jam!

Jam! Tales from the world of Roller Derby
I haven’t been to a mad Rollin’ Dolls ’bout in a coon’s age! I need to do that soon.

Zoom

JLA: Classified classic series 3 Zoom
I really hope they do a better job with the symbol on his chest and the lightning bolt around his waist; they’re wrong the way they’re pictured.

Legion of Super-Heroes

Legion of Super-Heroes #1
I’ll have to revitalize my memory of Yildiray Çinar’s work in Noble causes volume 8. While I recall it being good, in some cases switching to one of the big two publishers causes the reproduction of their work to suffer.

Dark Phoenix

Phoenix

Marvel Bishoujo Statues: Dark Phoenix (and Phoenix)
Kotobukiya does it again (and again). These PVC statues continue to look great!

Mystery Society

Mystery society #1
Fiona Staples draws pretty.

Cry Wolf

Patricia Briggs’ Alpha & Omega: Cry Wolf volume 1 #1
My pal Jordan is drawing this book, and it ought to ship on schedule because, if I recall correctly, he’s had this issue drawn for months.

Soulfire

Soulfire volume 1 part 2 trade paperback
I’m really hoping for a definitive edition of Soulfire, in all honesty, but this (along with Soulfire volume 1) will make do for now, especially because I’ve been waiting to read Chaos reign and dying of the Light soft covers.

Troublemaker

Troublemaker book 1

Other than the art by Joëlle Jones (note to self, read Token), the book has a female lead who’s a mechanic? Awesome! wonder if she could fix my coolant leak.

Transformers IDW Collection

Transformers: The IDW Collection, volume 1 hard cover
This is the collection I’ve been waiting for, though I only expected soft cover. Chronological and a high page count; awesome!

Velocity

Velocity #1 Rocafort Cover
While I have my issues with top Cow’s Pilot season set-up, I can’t deny good things haven’t come from it. For a little behind-the-scenes info on this comic, check Ron Marz’s new blog! To read Marz’s previous writing of Velocity, check out Cyberforce volume 1 soft cover. For much more of Kenneth Rocafort’s work, check out the Madame Mirage soft cover.

Witchblade

Witchblade #138
“…the connection to Sara Pezzini may surprise even the most devoted fan.” know what I appreciate from that quote? May. No hyperbole about how it will surprise. Honestly? I’m hoping I’m surprised, but either way, I know I’ll be entertained.
